Step 1 – Select A Vireo Product Line
Vireo Health’s dispensary staff, including pharmacists, patient care consultants, and budtenders, will work closely with you to determine which product types are best suited for your desired wellness or health outcomes. Vireo Health’s plant cultivators and scientists have developed products for every Vireo product line containing a consistent and predictable amount of the two most common active ingredients in cannabis: THC and CBD. Together, these cannabis-derived chemicals have a greater effect than if administered alone. Additionally, CBD can ameliorate many of the side effects commonly experienced by users of THC.
Recently, Vireo Health has begun to focus on the lesser-known cannabinoids – cannabinol and cannabigerol – otherwise known as CBN and CBG, respectively. Vireo Health is proud to now offer CBN as a Vireo Spectrum™ Softgel, which we call Moonlight.
THC = A9- tetrahydrocannabinol
THC produces the mental effects of cannabis, commonly referred to as “high.” Traditionally, THC was the most desired chemical within the cannabis plant, and strains have been bred to maximize THC content ranging from 4-35%.
CBD = cannabidiol
CBD produces medicinal effects without psychoactivity. Historically, this less-desired chemical was nearly nonexistent within popular cannabis strains, but more recently its medical potential has brought CBD to the forefront of cannabis research.
CBN = cannabinol
Cannabinol (CBN) was one of the first cannabinoids to be identified in 1986 but is one of the least understood. CBN is a multi-faceted and naturally-occurring molecule, or cannabinoid, within the cannabis plant. CBN might be called THC’s “younger sibling” because it’s created by the natural breakdown of THC as it’s exposed to oxygen. And like THC, CBN is psychoactive, but only about 25% as much as THC.
CBG = cannabigerol
CBG, cannabigerol, is considered the mother of all cannabinoids because its acidic form (CBGa) is the precursor molecule for CBD, THC, CBC, and other minor cannabinoids. Even though CBG is a minor constituent of cannabis, considerable efforts are being made to create cannabis strains with higher amounts of CBG. Noteworthy promise shown in scientific studies has compelled Vireo Health to develop products with CBG.
Step 2 – Select A Vireo Product Type
Each color in the Vireo Spectrum™ represents a distinct product line. Depending on your qualifying medical condition, Vireo Health’s specially-trained pharmacists will help recommend a product line that matches your unique needs. For instance, patients experiencing chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting often benefit from products associated from Vireo Health’s THC-dominant product lines (Black, Red, Silver and Yellow) while patients experiencing neurological diseases, like epilepsy, often benefit from products associated with our CBD-dominant product lines (Blue, Indigo, and Violet).
THC Dominant
These are cannabis product types that are predominantly THC comprised, with a small component of CBD to reduce side effects. While very potent THC preparations are available, side effects are dose-related. So by limiting the maximum percentage of THC in our products, Vireo Health aims to minimize the risks of side effect and inadvertent over-medication.
Balanced THC:CBD
Using a cannabis product with a balance of THC and CBD may give the patient the best of both worlds. A balanced ratio is currently used in a number of pharmaceutical products and has demonstrated benefits for many patients worldwide.
CBD Dominant
Demand for CBD-dominant products has skyrocketed after recent research has shown the diverse range of medical benefits this chemical offers for inflammatory conditions and epilepsy. One of the primary advantages is that CBD is not psychoactive, so patients can use their medication without fear of mental limitations or other side effects.
Vireo Spectrum™ Products
Ground Flower
Like many plants, cannabis “flowers” as it matures. This flower houses much of the THC and other cannabinoids the plant produces. The flower is harvested, dried, and ground into fine particles in its natural state with no additives. With ground flower, patients in many no-smoking states and smoking can enjoy the full spectrum of the plant in a convenient format.
Concentrated Vaporization Oils
Vaporizers gently heat the oils in the cannabis-derived medicine until they evaporate and can be inhaled. It is important with your first use that you take a very short “puff” from the vaporizer. You should then wait at least 10 minutes to feel the effects. At that point, you can again take another slightly longer “puff”. Remember to wait a sufficient time after each inhalation to be certain you do not take too much.
Ingestible – Liquids
Solutions are liquids made of cannabis-derived medicine that can be placed in the mouth and either swallowed or absorbed to some degree in the mouth itself. It can take up to 2-3 hours for these medicines to take full effect, so you should wait three hours before taking another dose. Too often, patients do not believe the first dose is working due to the delay in effect. Be aware that these doses add up over time so please wait the recommended amount so as not to overdose.
Ingestible – Solids
Vireo Health provides Tablets and Softgels for this medicinal delivery format, and – like liquids – solid ingestibles take a long time to enter your system and take effect. However, solid ingestibles also last for a long time. As a general rule, patients should wait at least 3 hours before taking another dose.
Topicals
Vireo topical cannabis products are cannabis-infused creams, balms, and lotions applied directly to the skin made with Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT), Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Beeswax. Topicals can be used to supplement an existing regimen or can be used on its own as symptoms arise. An application can generally take effect as quickly as 30 minutes and last between 4-6 hours.

Last Step – Start Low, Go Slow.
We deeply care about your experience and are particularly sensitive to those patients who are not yet familiar with cannabis-derived products. To minimize risks, Vireo Health supports the “Start Low. Go Slow” philosophy. This means that we advise to start with a very low dose and wait a long while for the effects to take hold. This is a similar approach to medication safety dosing for many other traditional medications.
