As the cannabis industry grows at an incredible pace, so does the entry of women into the space. Women are embarking on major undertakings as leaders in a nascent industry that, like the rest of corporate America, is too often dominated by men in the top positions.
At Vireo we are proud of our diverse workforce of more than 400 employees, of which 62% identify as women, minorities, and/or vets. Additionally, almost half of Vireo’s senior management team and three of its seven Board Directors are women or individuals from diverse backgrounds.
One such leader is Kaitlyn Nedo, General Manager of Vireo Health’s Johnstown Cultivation facility. Kaitlyn started her career with Vireo Health in November 2015, during the company’s early startup phase.
Prior to Vireo Health, Kaitlyn worked as a Laboratory Technician in the environmental industry. Looking for a change, she decided to bring her talents to Vireo Health. While working through the challenges of a startup, Kaitlyn’s knowledge, and experience with wearing several hats lead her to the coveted role of General Manager.
When Kaitlyn’s not working, she loves to read books and watch movies. While she does not have a favorite movie, her favorite filmmaker is Hayao Miyazaki. She also enjoys hiking, kayaking, and bird watching as some of her favorite pastimes.
